MUMMY’S INSTITUTE OF BEAUTY, DESIGN AND COMMERCIAL STUDIES is a vocational skills training institution offering different courses on a Diploma and Certificate level. We are located along villa-Maria road about 2kms from Nyendo trading centre in Masaka City. The Institute is fully registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports with Uganda Business and technical Examination Board (UBTEB) and the Directorate of Industrial Trainning (DIT) as our examination bodies. We are also affiliated to Makerere University on the Programme of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).
The Institute was founded by Kaggwa Steven Mugisha and MugambiraJescaand as amarried couplethey faced financial challenges after KaggwastevenMugisha faced a problem with his spine that caused him permanent disability and after a number of years they had a vision of fighting unemployment amongst the vulnerable groups of people like the disabled, teenage mothers, school dropouts. The couple started up a salon and a training Centre in Nyendo in 2004 with only one course (Hair Dressing). After afew years in 2007 the salon had now been transformed into a training institution with three courses (Hair Dressing, Tailoring, and catering) and the number of students was around 50. Currently the Institute offers over thirteen courses with an enrollment of over 600 students. Our Programme of internship and job placements has enabled over 2000 students acquire jobs and places of intership so as to reduce on the levels of unemployment in Uganda.
